We are happy to announce that next year, the 5th Bridging Nordic Microscopy Infrastructure (BNMI) Symposium will take place in Levi, Finland, November 23/24 – 27, 2026. 

The goal of the BNMI symposium is to bring the Nordic imaging infrastructures, leading imaging scientists, and industry representatives together for insightful discussions and collaboration to improve the quality and impact of microscopy in the Nordic countries. By bringing together experts from different imaging modalities and career stages, we aim to foster meaningful collaborations and offer a unique opportunity to stay updated on cutting-edge imaging technologies, learn new techniques, and build valuable connections within the imaging community.

We will offer an exciting scientific program, which will consist of industry workshops & exhibitions, scientific talks, poster sessions, and panel discussion. Topics that will be covered include:

  • Advanced light microscopy & super-resolution microscopy
  • Electron microscopy
  • Mesoscopy
  • Label-free imaging
  • High content imaging
  • Image analysis
  • Imaging applications

The social program will include cross-country skiing, alpine skiing, sauna, and northern lights (if the weather allows it) ⛷️

The 5th BNMI Symposium will be hosted by the Finnish Advanced Microscopy Node (www.eurobioiamging.fi/FiAM/) at the Levi Summit Event Centre & Hotel Levi Panorama in Lapland, Finland.

Hotel Levi Panorama sits on one of the Levi fell tops, just a 15-minute drive from Kittilä International Airport. Along with its unique location on the slopes, this venue offers a variety of services and activities, including skiing and hiking directly from the grounds. Levi Summit Congress and Exhibition Centre has multipurpose facilities and high-tech equipment, making it a first-class venue. Together, Levi Summit Congress and Exhibition Centre and Hotel Levi Panorama provide the perfect setting for the 5th BNMI symposium.

Bridging Nordic Microscopy Infrastructure (www.bnmi.eu) initiative was launched in 2021 to strengthen the international competitiveness and facilitating the development of world-leading Nordic advanced microscopy environments, by organizing scientific and technical symposia, workshops and knowledge-exchange seminars, shadowing programs for facility staff and short-term scientific mobility grants for researchers and increase the training and innovation activities among the participant Nordic countries. BNMI is funded by NordForsk.
